Conic Equidistant Projection

Equidistant Conic

Distances along meridians and along the two standard parallels are accurate. A simple conic compromise that predates modern cartography — versions appear in Ptolemy's Geographia. Not as famous as Albers or Lambert, but widely used for mid-latitude regional maps where distance accuracy matters.
