Eckert IV Projection

Rounded Equal-Area

One of six projections published by Max Eckert in 1906. Eckert IV has semi-elliptical meridians that taper to a point at the poles — giving it a softer look than Mollweide. Equal area is preserved. Often used for thematic maps showing global distributions like population or climate.
